David Lario

Founder & Principal Engineer
David brings over 25 years of experience across every facet of equipment engineering and inspection in the oil and gas sector. With advanced degrees from the University of Alberta and research expertise in shape memory alloys and computational analysis, he founded Enigma Engineering to bring complex engineering solutions to practical applications.

Background
Growing up on a farm in Silver Valley, Alberta, David developed the hands-on mindset and problem-solving approach that defines Enigma Engineering today. His graduate research focused on the combined axial and torsional load response of shape memory alloys, designing and building custom testing apparatus and running finite element simulations.
David is actively involved in a Mitacs Accelerate research partnership with the University of Waterloo, exploring new frontiers in applied engineering research using Python, 3D simulation in Unity, SolidWorks, and AI-driven workflows. He's also a long-time volunteer with APEGA's Peace Region Branch, serving in various leadership roles.
